Aptera, the California startup that has spent two decades trying to make solar-powered electric vehicles (EVs) a commercial reality, says it has taken a meaningful step toward putting its first customer cars on the road. On August 4, the company said it has placed supplier orders for the body and chassis of its first 40 market-ready vehicles, with the parts expected to reach its California factory in October and the remaining components due over the following months.
