Ownership, Funding & Advertising
Readers are entitled to know who owns NewsFormal, how it makes money and how that money is kept away from editorial decisions.
1. Ownership
NewsFormal is an independent online publication. It is privately owned and operated by its founding team and is not part of any media group, investment firm, bank or listed company. No political party, government or lobby group has a stake in it. Contact details for the publisher are on our Contact page.
2. Sources of Funding
- Programmatic advertising, primarily Google AdSense.
- Direct advertising and sponsorship, where clearly labelled.
We do not currently take donations, paid subscriptions or grants. The weekly bulletin and alerts are free. If that changes, this page will be updated first.
3. Editorial Independence
Advertising revenue has no influence on which stories we cover, how we cover them, or the risk and opportunity assessments we attach to them. Advertisers do not see briefs before publication and cannot request changes to them.
4. Advertising Policy
- Separation: ads are visually distinct from editorial content and are never disguised as briefs.
- Labelling: any sponsored content or partnership is clearly marked as such.
- Standards: we do not knowingly run misleading, manipulative or unlawful advertising, and we reject financial promotions that promise guaranteed returns.
- Conflicts of interest: we avoid advertising or sponsorship arrangements that could compromise, or appear to compromise, our coverage of the advertiser.
5. Financial Interests of Editors
Editors do not trade on information obtained through their work before publication, and do not write about companies in which they hold a material personal interest without disclosure to the editorial team.
6. Not Investment Advice
Nothing NewsFormal publishes is a personal recommendation to buy, sell or hold any asset. See our Disclaimer.
7. Review
This page is reviewed regularly and updated whenever our ownership or funding changes.
