IDEA 2027 Awards Open: Innovation in Nonwovens Recognized
The Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry (INDA) and Nonwovens Industry Magazine have officially opened nominations for the 2027 IDEA Achievement Awards, the sector's most prominent platform for honouring breakthrough products, materials, equipment and sustainability advances. Companies and individuals from across the engineered materials and nonwovens supply chain can submit entries — or nominate a client's innovation — until November 8, 2026.
The awards are presented every three years in conjunction with the IDEA trade fair. This cycle recognizes developments introduced since IDEA 25, with winners to be unveiled at IDEA 27, scheduled for March 23–25, 2027, at the Kansas City Convention Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Categories for 2027 cover best new nonwoven fabric, long-life durable products, and a sustainability advancement award that specifically praises circularity and environmental improvements in raw materials, processes, fabrics and end-use products.
Also returning is the Entrepreneur Award, chosen exclusively by Nonwovens Industry Magazine. The selection process blends expert and industry input: INDA’s Technical Advisory Board picks three finalists per category, then the wider professional community votes via the magazine’s website to determine the ultimate winners.
What an IDEA Award Means for Nonwovens Companies
Why IDEA Awards Still Carry Weight
Although the nonwovens sector operates largely behind the scenes — supplying materials for everything from hygiene goods and wipes to filtration, automotive and medical products — an IDEA Award is a credible signal. Past winners like Kindcloth (a durable fabric) and Innovatec’s water-soluble nonwoven wipes gained visibility among converters, brand owners and technical buyers. For a mid-sized materials supplier, the award often serves as a direct sales credential and can accelerate adoption of a new technology in downstream applications.
A Limited Window for Entrants
The three-year award cycle means the competition captures only those innovations that have reached a market-ready state since the last IDEA show. That temporal constraint can favour companies that have been quietly refining products and are now ready to commercialise. With the deadline set for early November 2026, entrants must have their full technical and commercial documentation assembled, and the public-vote phase adds a marketing dimension — finalists often mobilise customers to participate.
Key Deadlines and How to Enter
- Submit nominations by November 8, 2026. If your company has a new nonwoven fabric, a long-life durable product, or a sustainability advancement in raw materials, processes, equipment or end-use goods, visit the official IDEA Achievement Awards portal to enter.
