India's GCC Hiring Plans Strengthen for FY27

More than half of global capability centres in India are preparing to expand their workforces in the coming financial year, according to the Taggd GCC Talent Lab Survey 2026. The share of GCCs that plan to increase hiring has risen to 52 per cent for FY27, up from 47 per cent a year earlier, while the proportion expecting to reduce headcount has fallen to 26 per cent from 36 per cent.

That shift lifts net hiring intent to roughly 17 per cent, from about 14 per cent last year. The survey, based on responses from more than 100 CHROs and senior talent acquisition leaders, projects that GCC hiring in India could generate around 1.5 lakh, or roughly 150,000, new roles in FY27.

Early-career professionals are expected to account for much of that intake: freshers are projected to make up 16 per cent of hiring, people with one to five years of experience another 30 per cent, and those with six to ten years another 28 per cent. Nearly half of respondents say more than a quarter of their open roles now require AI-related skills, and one in four say most of their positions are already AI-adjacent.

Yet the stronger outlook is accompanied by a clear mismatch. Quality of available talent remains the biggest hiring constraint, cited by 24 per cent of respondents, while compensation inflation is running ahead of budget forecasts. The average offer-to-join conversion rate has improved to about 80 per cent, compared with a benchmark of 70-75 per cent last year.

Demand is shifting toward AI-related capabilities at a moment when many candidates cannot demonstrate the skills they claim. With nearly half of respondents saying more than a quarter of their open roles require AI skills, and one in four saying most roles are AI-adjacent, the competition for genuinely productive AI talent is likely to push compensation higher and lengthen time-to-fill for advanced roles.

The findings are most useful as a planning signal for GCC human-resources and talent-acquisition leaders, and for professionals bidding into those roles.
