DADDY Token Crashes 24% as Tate Brothers Face New UK Charges
The DADDY token, a Solana-based meme coin associated with Andrew Tate, plunged 24% on Sunday after U.S. Marshals arrested the Tate brothers in Miami on a UK extradition request. The arrest came as British prosecutors added 38 new charges, raising the total to 59, and the number of alleged victims from three to seven.
Andrew Tate, 39, now faces 42 charges including rape, trafficking, assault, and offenses involving indecent images of children and extreme pornography. Tristan Tate, 38, faces 17 charges after six new counts were added, including two of rape. The alleged offenses date from July 2010 to August 2017. Both brothers deny all accusations and also face a separate trafficking trial in Romania.
The token quickly reflected the news. DADDY fell to around $0.0112, wiping out nearly a quarter of its value in a single day. Market data showed thin trading volume of about $429,000, meaning even modest sell orders could move the price sharply. The token now sits 96% below its June 2024 peak of $0.2886 and is not far from its all-time low of $0.0045.
What the Arrest Means for the DADDY Meme Coin
DADDY Token’s Reliance on Andrew Tate’s Legal Standing
The price of DADDY has tracked the legal fortunes of its namesake almost exactly. Each new charge or arrest has triggered a sell-off, underlining how purely the token’s value depends on the Tate brand rather than any underlying utility. With the UK now seeking extradition on 59 charges—including serious sexual offenses—the brand appeal that once attracted speculative buyers has been severely damaged. The addition of charges involving minors and extreme pornography is likely to deter even the most risk-tolerant holders.
How Thin Liquidity Amplifies the Price Swing
DADDY’s market cap has shrunk to about $6.7 million, and daily trading volume was just $429,000 on Sunday. In this low-liquidity environment, even moderate selling pressure can cause disproportionate price drops. The -24% move is typical of meme coins that lack institutional support or deep order books. The token’s current price is within reach of its all-time low of $0.0045, and further legal setbacks could easily push it below that level.
What Past Celebrity Token Crashes Teach
DADDY’s trajectory mirrors other celebrity-linked tokens that collapsed once the associated personality fell from favour. Analysts have repeatedly warned that meme coins backed only by hype and the celebrity’s social media presence are vulnerable to sudden reversals. The earlier sale of Andrew Tate’s own TATE airdrop—despite a public pledge to hold—had already undermined confidence. Now, with an extradition hearing looming, the token faces an event risk that pure market analysis cannot price.
