McMurtry's Production Spéirling PURE Prepares for Its Monterey Debut
McMurtry Automotive has released new images of the production-ready Spéirling PURE, the electric fan car whose record-breaking prototype turned the company into a headline act in the low-volume EV world. The final version is set for its global debut at Monterey Car Week, appearing first at The Quail and then at the Monterey Motorsports Reunion.
The road-legal production car is a meaningfully different machine from the record-breaking prototype. McMurtry says it now has a larger 100kWh battery, bigger overall dimensions, more brake regeneration, new electric motors, additional cooling, headlights, a hinged second door, redesigned fan blades and motors, and a taller ride height — essentially the changes required to make it permissible on public roads.
Managing director and co-founder Thomas Yates says the car is genuinely usable, arguing that “feedback from our earliest deposit holders has shaped the car just as much as our own engineering ambition did.” That feedback, he said, helped “turn a record-breaking prototype into something extraordinary and genuinely usable.”
