Zahab Masr's MENA Double Win for Hybrid Gold Investing

Zahab Masr (Egypt Gold), an Egyptian precious-metals investment company, has picked up two awards from World Business Outlook magazine's 2026 programme, in recognition of its work in digital gold investment across the Middle East and North Africa.

The company received the award for "Best Phygital Investment Experience MENA 2026", which honours businesses that combine online platforms with in-person services. Zahab Masr was recognised for a model that lets customers access gold and precious-metals investing through digital channels while keeping physical service touchpoints — a structure the award citation said improves customer experience and makes bullion investing more accessible.

Dr Fadi Kamel, who was recognised alongside the company, was separately named "Leader in Precious Metals Phygitalization MENA 2026", an individual prize for driving the sector's shift toward business models that merge technology with traditional services.

World Business Outlook is an international business publication covering finance, banking, technology and other sectors; its annual awards spotlight companies and executives judged to show innovation and operational excellence in regional markets. Zahab Masr said the double win confirms its position as one of the region's more advanced users of financial technology in gold investing.

What the Awards Say About Hybrid Gold Platforms in the Region

The "Phygital" Logic for Gold

Gold is unusual among investment assets: buyers often want physical reassurance — a product they can see, weigh and collect — while younger retail investors increasingly expect app-based buying, pricing and storage. The hybrid, or "phygital", model that Zahab Masr has built tries to serve both preferences at once, using digital tools to widen access and physical branches to build trust.

That matters in a market where much gold trading still runs through jewellers and over-the-counter shops. An interpretation suggested by the award is that the company's strategy is aimed at turning gold from a traditional, relationship-driven purchase into a more standardised retail investment product.

Recognition Value vs. Business Impact

The awards give Zahab Masr and Kamel visibility in a fast-growing regional market for digital gold platforms. Yet this is primarily a reputational milestone: no customer numbers, sales figures or market-share data were disclosed alongside the announcement, so the commercial scale of the business cannot be judged from the story alone.

The practical test will be whether the recognition translates into customer growth, and whether other regional platforms accelerate efforts to add physical branches or human service layers to their digital offerings.
