How Suez Canal Insurance Secured Its 12 Committee Seats
Suez Canal Insurance has secured 12 positions on the technical committees of the Insurance Federation of Egypt for the federation's 2026 cycle. The roles are split between deputy committee chairs, full members and listening members, and were approved by the federation's board.
The company's named representatives include Khaled Yousry, head of reinsurance, as deputy chair of the Reinsurance Committee; Hadeer Awad as a member of the Insurance Awareness Committee; Samir Mahmoud Abdel Mohsen as a member of the Microinsurance Committee; Ahmed Abdel Hamid as a member of the Claims and Loss Prevention Committee; and Amr El Daly as a listening member of the Fire Risks Committee.
Company chairman Mohamed Adel Fathy and managing director Mohamed Hassan Farghaly both described the selection as a sign of market confidence in the insurer's staff. The company said it is investing in training insurance personnel in analysis, marketing and customer service to meet international standards.
The federation also restructured its committee system for the new cycle, adding a Cyber Security and Insurance Committee and an Investment and Savings Committee, merging several existing committees, and renaming others to reflect new responsibilities.
What the Federation's 2026 Committee Shake-Up Means for Egyptian Insurers
What Suez Canal Insurance Actually Gains
A seat in these committees is not symbolic. The federation's technical committees prepare studies and recommendations that shape insurance practices in Egypt, so Suez Canal Insurance now has direct input into areas where it already operates, especially reinsurance, microinsurance and claims.
Cyber and Investment Committees Define the New Agenda
The decision to create a Cyber Security and Insurance Committee reflects an industry-wide recognition that cyber risk has become a pressing concern as digital transformation accelerates. The Investment and Savings Committee, meanwhile, focuses on investment opportunities for life insurers and on improving customer engagement, including more efficient distribution.
A More Streamlined, Specialised Structure
By merging group life and persons insurance into a single Life Insurance Committee and combining life and property reinsurance into one Reinsurance Committee, the federation is simplifying how it organises expertise. This should reduce overlap between committees while concentrating the technical work in fewer, broader bodies.
Next Moves for Insurers Under the New Committee Structure
The committee changes create immediate preparation points for Egyptian insurers:
- Suez Canal Insurance should use Khaled Yousry's deputy chair position to influence the merged reinsurance committee's early agenda, since life and property reinsurance work is now being brought together.
- The insurer's claims, microinsurance and marketing representatives now have first-hand access to federation studies; those teams should be assigned to bring recommendations back into internal procedures before they become market practice.
- Other insurers need to identify specialists for the new Cyber Security and Insurance Committee and the Investment and Savings Committee, since those committees are part of the approved 2026 structure and will require member nominations.
- Life insurers should prepare for the merged Life Insurance Committee, which now combines group life and persons insurance work that used to be handled separately.
