YouTuber WhistlinDiesel—real name Cody Detweiller—has wrapped up his nearly two-year durability test of the Tesla Cybertruck in spectacular fashion. The finale video shows the electric pickup, now battered from months of off-roading and repeated dealership visits, being remote-controlled into a stationary Ford F-150 at 111 miles per hour on a drag strip.

The story began in Moab, Utah, where the Cybertruck reportedly lost a trailer control module early in its trail run, stranding it after about a mile. That setback, combined with multiple trips back to Tesla service centers, shaped the narrative. Detweiller claims that repair invoices totaled around $53,000 despite the truck having fewer than 1,000 miles on the odometer.

The head-on collision destroyed both trucks. The F-150's cab and frame separated, while the Cybertruck’s front end crumpled beyond salvage. After sending them to the scrap heap, Detweiller declared the Ford the overall winner of the challenge, noting that the F-150 never needed dealership repairs during testing and only required a driveshaft replacement.

Why the F-150 Held Up Better in This Test

Detweiller’s tally of six or seven dealership visits for the Cybertruck versus none for the F-150 does highlight a real contrast in service dependency during the trial. The Cybertruck’s reported module failure on a rocky trail and subsequent drivability issues align with early owner reports about initial build quality and electronic fragility in the first production batch. The F-150, a long-running design with proven mechanical components, simply had fewer novel failure points to expose under harsh conditions. Still, the fact that it needed a driveshaft replacement shows that even an older, durable truck isn’t immune to damage under such treatment.
