The Muscat 30 index rose 0.15% at the opening bell on Wednesday, climbing 4.47 points to 2,908.58. The advance was underpinned by gains across all sector indices, with heavyweight stocks from the financial, services and industrial segments lending support.

Financial stocks added 0.15%, helped by Al Sharqiya Investment Holding (+0.99%) and Bank Dhofar (+0.91%). The services sector matched that 0.15% rise as OQ Exploration and Production jumped 2.07% and Omantel edged up 0.08%. Industrial names recorded the smallest sector gain of 0.14%, driven by OQ Basic Industries (+0.81%) and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles (+0.76%), though the latter also claimed the session’s top spot with a surge of 4.33%.

Trading was steady, with 16.55 million shares changing hands across 1,240 transactions, translating to a turnover of OMR 6.27 million. The upbeat mood was tempered by a 5.71% decline in Al Madina Investment Holding, which capped the overall financial sector advance.

OQEP and Bank Dhofar Provide Stability

The early gains were largely driven by liquid, index-heavy names. OQ Exploration and Production’s 2.07% rise made it the standout in services, reinforcing confidence in the recently listed energy giant. Bank Dhofar’s move of nearly 1% added ballast to the financial index, reflecting steady demand for Omani banking stocks.

Al Anwar Ceramics Posts a Double-Digit Day

Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles not only contributed 0.76% to the industrial sector’s rise but also topped the overall gainers’ table with a 4.33% spike. The outsized move suggests either a specific order flow or a delayed reaction to company news, although no formal announcement accompanied the session’s jump.

Al Madina Investment Drags on Financials

The biggest drag on the financial sector came from Al Madina Investment Holding, which fell 5.71%. The decline was large enough to restrain the sector from a stronger open, underscoring how a single counter can dominate the intraday narrative when volumes are relatively light.
