Why Water Will Stop in Haram and Faisal Areas Friday Night

Parts of the Haram and Faisal districts in Giza will experience an 8-hour water supply interruption starting Friday night, 31 July 2026, the Giza Drinking Water and Sanitation Company announced. Water will stop from 10:00 PM on Friday until 6:00 AM on Saturday, 1 August.

The affected streets are Mohamed Hassan Street and all its offshoots, Diaa Street and offshoots, Al-Matbaa Street and offshoots, and Al-Areesh Street and offshoots. The utility said the cut is required to reroute a 300 mm diameter drinking water main because its current alignment conflicts with the construction of the Al-Matbaa metro station on the northern side of Haram Street. This work is part of the ongoing Cairo Metro expansion project.

To ease the disruption, the company will station potable water tankers in the affected areas throughout the outage. Residents and businesses, including bakeries and hospitals, can request a tanker delivery by calling hotline 125. The utility urged everyone in those neighbourhoods to store enough water in advance to cover their needs until service is fully restored.
