What the New Ramayana: Part 1 Trailer Reveals
The makers of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana: Part 1 have released the film's full trailer, five months after the first glimpse was unveiled. The four-minute trailer, released in five languages, was launched at 4.15 am on July 30 during Brahma Muhurat, a pre-dawn period considered auspicious in Hindu tradition, after an earlier expected release on July 24 was moved aside.
Ranbir Kapoor leads the cast as Lord Ram, with Yash playing Ravana and Sai Pallavi as Sita. The trailer also confirms Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and introduces a large supporting ensemble, including Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari, Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha, Vivek Oberoi as Vidyutjihva, Harish Uthaman as Vibhishana and Faisal Malik as Kumbhakarna. Sunny Deol is attached to play Hanuman but does not appear in the trailer.
Behind the camera, the film marks a first-time collaboration between Academy Award winners Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman on an Indian feature. Mad Max action director Guy Norris has designed the action sequences, underscoring the production's international ambitions.
Why the Cast and Crew Choices Matter for the Epic
Why the Ensemble Cast Carries the Film's Appeal
The casting choices blend Bollywood, southern Indian and television talent in a deliberate effort to widen the film's audience. Yash's presence gives the project a strong pull with Kannada cinema fans, while Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi anchor the Hindi-market appeal. The depth of the supporting cast suggests the production is using name recognition to give even smaller mythological roles a degree of star power.
An International Ambition Behind the Scenes
The Hans Zimmer-A.R. Rahman partnership and Guy Norris's involvement point to a production aiming for global production standards. That matters commercially because epic mythology films increasingly rely on visual spectacle and music to attract audiences beyond traditional theatrical markets. The decision to release the trailer simultaneously in five languages reinforces the film's pan-India distribution strategy.
