When You’ll Receive Your July INSS Payment
The Brazilian National Social Security Institute (INSS) began transferring July benefits to retirees, pensioners, and other beneficiaries on Monday, July 27. The payments follow a staggered calendar that spreads the deposits over several business days to ease the administrative load on the banking system.
Who gets paid first depends on two factors: the final digit of your benefit card number — ignoring the check digit that appears after the dash — and whether your monthly benefit is equal to the national minimum wage or higher. Beneficiaries earning up to one minimum wage are paid before those receiving above that threshold.
How the Payment Schedule Works
The Payment Order for Minimum-Wage Beneficiaries
If your benefit is equal to the minimum wage (R$ 1,518 in 2026), the calendar starts with cards ending in 1 on the first day. On each subsequent business day, the next final digit is paid: 2, then 3, and so on until the cycle finishes with cards ending in 0.
The Payment Order for Those Earning Above the Minimum
For beneficiaries whose monthly amount exceeds the minimum, the schedule begins with cards ending in 1 and 6 on the first day. The following day covers finals 2 and 7, then 3 and 8, 4 and 9, and finally 5 and 0. This arrangement means higher-value payments reach accounts a few days later, but it still follows a predictable pattern.
Why INSS Uses a Staggered Calendar
The phased release prevents a single-day flood of over 30 million transactions that could strain bank processing systems. By grouping payments by final digit, INSS and financial institutions manage liquidity and technical resources more smoothly, reducing the risk of delays or system crashes.
Steps to Confirm Your Benefit and Payment Date
- Identify your payment date: Look at the number on your benefit card, before the dash. If you earn the minimum, your day is determined by that single digit. If you earn more, it’s based on the pair of digits (e.g., 1 or 6 on day one).
- Check the exact amount due: Use the “Meu INSS” app or visit meu.inss.gov.br. You’ll need your CPF and the password registered with the Gov.br portal.
- Phone assistance: Call 135, available Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., if you cannot access the internet or have questions about your benefit.
- If your money doesn’t arrive: First, confirm that you checked the correct date according to the final-digit rule. Then contact your bank or use the official INSS channels — never share your personal data with third parties offering to “unblock” payments.
