Handwriting Feature Hits All Meta Ray-Ban Display Units

Meta is now making the headline-grabbing handwriting feature available to all owners of its Meta Ray-Ban Display smart glasses, moving it out of early access and into a full public rollout. The technology relies on the included neural wristband to detect finger movements, allowing users to compose messages by drawing letters in the air without ever touching a phone.

The handwriting works across WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and—importantly—native Android and iOS messaging, massively expanding where the feature can be used. When the glasses were first announced, the ability to write with gestures was one of the most impressive demos, but it launched only in limited early access in January for WhatsApp and Messenger.

Alongside gesture typing, Meta is adding several other upgrades. A new “display recording” mode captures a single video that combines what the wearer sees on the lens display, the view of the real world, and the surrounding audio—letting people share a complete glasses experience rather than just a camera feed.
