Fogón Asado Leads Tripadvisor’s 2026 Global Fine Dining Ranking

Tripadvisor’s 2026 Best of the Best fine dining list has put an Argentine grill at the top of the global rankings for the second year running. Fogón Asado, in Buenos Aires, was named the world’s best fine dining restaurant, leading a top ten that also includes two other Argentine restaurants.

The ranking is built from user reviews and ratings collected between 1 July 2025 and 30 June 2026, combined with Tripadvisor’s editorial review. Restaurants that earn the Best of the Best distinction sit within the top 1% of the platform’s rated venues.

Fogón’s pitch is an asado tasting experience: guests sit close to the grill while cooks explain the ingredients, firewood, techniques and social traditions behind each course. The restaurant offers a nine-step tasting menu, plus a 14-plate format designed for a group of ten diners.

Argentina placed three restaurants in the global top ten: Abrasado in Mendoza came sixth and El Mercado in Buenos Aires tenth. Mexico was the only other country with more than one entry, placing Careyes in Cancún eighth and Acre in San José del Cabo ninth. Singapore’s KOMA took second, Vietnam’s The Rhythms third and Edinburgh’s The Witchery fourth.

What Fogón’s Second Straight Win Means for Argentina’s Culinary Tourism

What Tripadvisor’s Ranking Actually Measures

Tripadvisor’s methodology is consumer-driven rather than critic-led. It rewards restaurants that generate both a high volume and high quality of user reviews over a 12-month window, then applies editorial checks. That explains why a high-experience, visitor-friendly concept such as Fogón Asado can outrank venues that may rely on a smaller base of reviewers.

Why Fogón Asado Keeps Winning

The restaurant’s format is designed for sustained user enthusiasm. A multi-hour, nine-step asado experience puts guests close to the cooking, with chefs explaining ingredients, firewood and technique. The result is a participatory meal that is likely to produce strong user ratings, while also translating Argentina’s social grill tradition into a bookable experience for international visitors.

Argentina’s Three-Spot Showing Is a Tourism Story

Putting three venues in the top ten gives Argentina more representation than any other country. The placements are geographically complementary: Fogón and El Mercado anchor Buenos Aires, while Abrasado offers a high-end grill stop in Mendoza, Argentina’s wine-producing region. That combination makes it easier for food-focused travelers to build an itinerary without leaving the ranking’s top ten.

How Travelers and Tourism Operators Can Use the Top-Ten Line-Up

For travelers:

  • Decide which Fogón Asado format fits: the nine-step tasting menu is individual, while the 14-plate version is built for a group of ten diners and requires a larger party to coordinate.
  • Do not limit a food trip to Buenos Aires. Abrasado in Mendoza, ranked sixth, can pair with a wine-region itinerary, and El Mercado provides a second Buenos Aires option inside the top ten.
  • Plan for the experience, not just the meal: the Fogón format runs for more than two hours and is built around participation near the grill.

For hospitality and tourism operators:

  • Use the back-to-back ranking and three Argentine top-ten spots in food-focused travel packages connecting Buenos Aires and Mendoza.
  • International marketing can lean on the Tripadvisor recognition while also noting that Fogón has appeared in the Buenos Aires Michelin guide for three years, balancing consumer-review and professional recognition.
