Even in areas with slightly poorer soils, farmer management practices sustain strong production. However, the upcoming campaign is overshadowed by climate concerns. El Niño’s evolution is being closely tracked because the region depends on open-air conditions. Pastore noted that while rain is preferable to drought, excessive moisture can prevent machinery from entering fields, delay sowing, hinder crop protection applications, and later disrupt the haulage of harvested grain on rural roads.
To mitigate weather risks, producers rely on no-till farming, soil cover and contour curves to prevent erosion—practices that Pastore calls fundamental. He emphasized that good soil structure also enables machines to apply fungicides when humidity spurs disease. The season ahead will test how well Alto Paraná blends its natural gifts, infrastructure improvements and agronomic discipline.
