Andrei Cherezov, the founder and owner of Tula-based drone manufacturer RLVT (Russian Air Transport Laboratory), was shot early on July 29 while returning to his apartment on Mikheyeva Street. According to investigators, an unknown assailant fired at least three shots at Cherezov in the building’s entrance. His wife, who was at home, heard the gunfire but did not see the attacker.

Cherezov was rushed to hospital in critical condition. The Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case for attempted murder, and a search for the perpetrator is underway. No immediate claim of responsibility or motive has been established.

RLVT, founded in 2022 by graduates and postgraduate students of Tula State University, quickly became a significant player in Russia’s military drone market.
