What BMW and Kith Brought to Monterey
BMW and fashion label Kith have returned for their fourth collaboration, using Monterey Car Week to present two restored classics from Kith founder and CEO Ronnie Fieg's personal collection: a 1972 BMW 3.0 CSi and a 1987 BMW M6 E24. Both cars wear Inka Orange paint and caramel-colored interiors, a deliberate reference to BMW performance models of the early 1970s.
The 3.0 CSi was stripped to bare metal and treated with a factory-grade rustproofing process before being repainted. BMW and Fieg oversaw the restoration, which used original components sourced from BMW archives, including the M30 engine, transmission, rear axle, suspension and brakes. The interior was retrimmed with embossed Kith logos, while the gauges, dials, indicator lights and dashboard mechanical and electrical components were restored.
The M6 E24 received similarly extensive work: bare-metal preparation, rebuilding of its inline-six engine, five-speed manual transmission, differential, suspension, brakes and wheels. Beyond the two restored coupes, the collaboration includes apparel, accessories, a 1:18 die-cast model and a one-off X5 show car, giving the collection a more accessible entry point than the restored classics themselves.

Fieg's involvement goes beyond a standard licensing arrangement. These are his personal cars, and he worked with BMW on the restoration. That gives the project a stronger narrative than generic co-branding and connects Kith's identity to specific BMW heritage rather than simply placing a fashion label on a new vehicle.

The restored cars are not volume products; they function as marketing assets. By showing them alongside apparel, accessories and a die-cast model, BMW and Kith can draw attention to items fans can actually buy while keeping the restored coupes as aspirational halo pieces. The Inka Orange color choice reinforces BMW's early 1970s performance legacy, especially at a heritage-focused event like Monterey Car Week.
